The Flipped Coin

Dear reader,

We have decided to come home at the end of our one-year contract with DGEV. This was decided a while ago, maybe a month by now, I had a hard time deciding, Eric made his decision. I was laboring over it, and it was really weighing on me - I could see the benefits of both and was utterly torn.

Our two options were:

To go home in August 2022 or extend for 6 months and go home in January of 2023.

We have three major events happening back home in the states, so we had obligations on being back state-side in September. But the cost of flights and travel didn’t make sense to extend just for 6 months. A second year just felt too long for both of us, and it feels like we are ready to move on and start new adventures whether that be a family, Eric going back to school, buying a house, starting a mini ‘farm’, or gathering animals in our lives… who knows, but we’re thinking further than the teaching we are doing here right now.

So we flipped a coin, and it said to go home.

The relief we needed, I needed, and we can now start making plans.
